Catching Up With…Zach Danziger Throughout the arts there are the trailblazers who establish the paths that others follow. Beginning in the mid-’90s Zach Danziger began exploring and building what he calls his “hybrid electronic drumkit.???
Dr. Zachary Danziger received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in the area of human motor learning and computational neuroscience and his postdoctoral studies at Duke University were in electrophysiology and neurourology. Dr. Danziger’s primary research interests lie at the intersection of these areas of neuroscience theory and application.
Still in his twenties Zach Danziger has been the name to drop in both East and West Coast musicians’ circles for some time. Working his way through gigs with Michel Camilo Chuck Loeb Randy Brecker Leni Stern and Bob Mintzer. Danziger seemed to make his mark on guitarist Wayne Krantz’s 1995 offering Two Drink Minimum.
Zach Danziger is a trail blazer and an innovator. In 1995 he was using and developing effects cymbals with Zildjian before there was a need for them and before anyone knew what they were for. Today he’s incorporating electronics and video into his drumming while evolving as a player and as a person.

Between Big Fat Liar in 2002 and Sing in 2016 Zach earned 76 song- or score-writing credits including for such hit movies as Iron Man Night At The Museum Transformers and Horrible Bosses. And his drumming can be heard on the scores of many films including the highly successful Ocean’s 11 12 and 13.
