Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has informed that the state’s police department will arrest people participating in child marriages starting Friday, February 3.
Addressing the press, Biswa Sarma said: “Starting tomorrow, thousands of people who participate in child marriages, will be arrested. We will make thousands of arrests over the next 6-7 days. Those who have taken part in child marriage will be arrested, both young and old.
The Chief Minister also informed that those who have married girls younger than 14, including those who made them pregnant, will be prosecuted under provisions of the POCSO Act and imprisoned for life.
According to the Assam Chief Minister, the state police has registered 4,004 cases across the state and more police action is likely in the days ahead.

But the question is who will take care of the childrens n wifes? And who will take responsible if any of them suicide due to depression? So In my opinion there should be a warning before arresting , that no one should participate or support child mirrage from now on. But since the government has already taken action, Now Those men who are arrested should be released soon for a peaceful life
