Have you tried your 17-55mm on an FX camera? Did you like it at all if so?

If Dawan is looking for a macro lens that is great for portraits I would suggest the 105mm AFS G VR over the 105mm D. You already have a 50mm so the 60mm macro would not be much different for portraits and for real macro you need to get some subject distance that the 105mm allows. I have owned both the D and G version of the 105 and while the D lens is great for macro, the VR (G) version is better for natural light portraits where you may want more DOF and therefore a longer shutter speed. For pure macro, either work well. The VR doesn't work for macro subjects as well as it does for far away subjects, and the AFS isn't much use since at true macro you will be manually focusing (by rocking back and forth) anyway. But the VR version is just as sharp and more versatile for other types of shooting than the D.
i own the 105mm 2.8d and its pretty good i have use the 105mm 2.8g and the only difference in that the g is little faster and not as noisy as the d version but is sharppp and almost no distortion

Now in a stack of two, I agree, but for a stack of three, wouldn't you want to focus toward the middle to begin to get the even focal plane? Or would you just say that's to taste of the tog?
Macro lens of choice is a new favorite and pickup, the Nikon 105mm with VR.
I'm very happy that I've found this channel because I've found in general men are either gear heads or get lost in technical details without showing any creativity whereas a lot of female photographers I know are some of the most creative photographers out there! Great channel! And I really love how clean your decor in this video looks. A lot of content creators on YouTube have way too cluttered environments. Also kudos for not screaming at us like some do 🙂

Everytime 3. party lenses are mentioned, you point out less build quality than the native brands. This is tiresome as especially Tamron has heightened their game with fx. the 24-70 VC, 70-200 VC and the 15-30 VC. These are optically and in build quality equal or better than the Nikon versions imo. The 15-30 and the 70-200 I have personally together with the Nikon 24-70. Excellent combos for my D4. 🙂
