Gabby Petito's family files $50 million lawsuit against Utah police

Gabby Petito’s family files $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Utah police. The family accuses the Moab City Police Department of failing to protect Petito from Brian Laundrie by not training officers properly.

The family of Gabby Petito on Monday announced a wrongful death lawsuit against police in Moab, Utah, accusing the department of failing to properly investigate her domestic violence case and protect her.

The lawsuit, which seeks $50 million in damages, comes around the first anniversary of Petito’s death.

Petito was 22 when she was reported missing in September 2021. She was on a monthslong cross-country trip living in a van with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie.

So now you want police to arrest people? And they are somehow to blame for the fact her boyfriend murdered her? I'm getting that correct, right? You people are clowns.

So the police are ok if you use violence to get someone to stop speaking or insulting you. Phew, take that 1st amendment.

Their was an eyewitness that domestic violence occurred. What should have happen was the female should have been escorted and flown back home. The guy just to travel home or on to his vocation. The cops were not trained to deal with domestic violence and mental issues. Also, did nothing to want to write a full report. They should have been separated by the cops and one fly back home to deal the after effects. She would have been alive. Both had mental and aggressive behavior that the cops should have split them off. Who care if they ruined their vocation that is life

wow..it really seems to be clear that she changed her responses because she felt their aggression to implicate her. I mean what other motive would any reasonable person have to ask "what was your intention with the slap?" than to be accusatory? only a psychopath would expect there is any acceptable response to that question and that is what she saw. a psychopath protecting the person that ……….end of story

It's almost like they are taking the blame from the real killer and putting it on the cops, he killed her not the cops

They wouldn't ask a man what he was trying to do when slapping a woman. They would just arrest him. Many times with no physical evidence the woman was ever hit. If they had treated her in the same way they would have treated a man. They would have arrested her and she would still be alive. Until society truly treats women and men the same in a domestic disputes. The could happen again. The cops are not at fault here. Societies double standard are. As far as her boyfriend. I hope he is burning in hell.

If she was black she would have been arrested. White cops see certain white people and feel like they can identify with them. This time it backfired on them. If they treat everyone the same she might be alive today.

Had they arrested her for domestic abuse she would be alive. It is a shame that women who are the primary instigators of domestic abuse are given a pass by corrupt law enforcement.

Gynocentrism fails once again. When you perceive that men cannot be victims, everybody loses. The police are the enemy of the people…especially if you're a man of the receiving end of DV.

I had that same thought would both still be alive had they been arrested with domestic violence. I can't blame police on this one dealing with domestic disputes is one of the worst calls I would get as a security guard nobody wins.
