When Should You Take Maternity Photos? I always say, the best time for maternity pictures is when you feel good and are still feeling comfortable. In most cases this is during your 7th or 8th month of pregnancy, between 30-36 weeks. Try and schedule your maternity photo session in your seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. Your belly will have a nice round shape during this time frame, perfect for taking photographs. If you’re counting by weeks, schedule your session when you’re around 30 weeks pregnantJeans with a bandeau or cropped top – but not maternity jeans. Wear your pre-pregnancy jeans unbuttoned, which will give a much more flattering shape than maternity jeans will. A bandeau top and flowing maxi skirt.
