The Louisiana high school graduate who disappeared after leaping off a cruise ship into dark waters off the Bahamas last week may have met a grisly fate in the “shark-infested” area, a local official said.
The waters off Athol Island, where 18-year-old Cameron Robbins was last seen swimming after jumping off the Blackbeard’s Revenge sunset cruise on May 24, are “really shark-infested,” Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) Commodore Raymond King told The Daily Mail on Tuesday.
A chaotic video taken moments after the jump overboard also shows the Baton Rouge native ignoring onlookers’ pleas for him to grab a buoy and swim in the opposite direction – prompting social media sleuths to suggest that a silvery reflection near the boat’s hull may have actually been a shark that scared him off.

The first thing I thought was a shark. Crazy how the news has not even mentioned a shark or this clip. This is sad. My condolences to his family. Angry at the kids who dared him. Hmmm wonder if they would jump?

I heard the boat was anchored. Anyway, it is not making much if any way. The netting is around the bow. He jumped off the Port side side of the bow. He started swimming towards the bow but also at an angle away from the boat. The camera jerks back to the buoy and when it returns to where Robbins was at 0:11 there is only a glimmer of light from something obviously submerged. I cannot tell but it may well be that his last location was entirely in frame so that this view at 0:11 proves he was underwater at that point. something was underwater about the same shade as his legs/khakis or shirt. I think Robbins had simply swum out of the light and that what can be seen there is either a splash or his legs.
The kid making all the noise did not appear to be an acquaintance as he refers to Robbins as "this kid [jumped off]". The "shark" at the beginning of the video has been said by people who have extensively analyzed the video to be splashes from the line attached to the life ring. At around 0:11 or 0:14 the videographer goes the short distance to the Starboard side of the boat which is dark and nothing is visible in the water. I think it's a fair inference that he did so because Robbins could no longer be seen from his position on the Port side at that point. Did Robbins swim out of view? Maybe. If he'd gone down the kid would not move to the other side of the boat. Did Robbins make for the nearby island? possibly. Or maybe he avoided the ring and swam out into darkness for his own reasons.
I don't understand why Robbins didn't communicate AT ALL once he surfaced with the friends who allegedly dared him.

Its honestly hard to feel bad for the kid, I feel bad for the family, but that kid knew better and literally threw his life away for nothing. I'm pretty sure criminal charges are in order for the other kids pushing him to do it, though.

I watched this video at .25 speed you can see Cameron extend his hands out as to push or punch at the shark this happens about 2 seconds after you see the dorsal fin break the water . He than turns quickly to it looks like swim twords the boat hull maybe he seen some rope or something the thought he could get a hold of. As he swims you see him make a defensive kick than you can actually see him twords the end between the safety net get dragged under before he disappears very sad and unfortunate.
I hope he drowned b4 they ripped him apart.
