Buckingham Palace released the Official Royal Coronation Portraits of King Charles III, the Queen and their family. The photos were taken by Hugo Burnand. I was not asked to do a critique but felt I would take a look and share my thoughts with you. Let’s make it abundantly clear, I don’t know how much time Hugo had to Photograph. I don’t know what rules and protocols he was under to follow. And lastly, he’s the one who captured these historic images that will live on. So regardless of what anyone says about the images, YOU DIDN’T TAKE THEM, he did.

Fujifilm GFX 100s and GF 100-200mm F5.6, GF 45-100mm F4 was the camera and lenses used according to Fujifilm UK.
Kate generally shoots with Fujifilm XT series and Canon. Kate is also the Patron of the Royal Photographic Society after being handed the Patronage from the late Queen and highlights the beneficial impacts the art and creativity can have on emotional wellbeing particularly for children and young people.
Would love to see you interview Hugo regarding his career and this gallery.

Well he’s not Cecil Beaton that’s for sure!
It's not a chalice, it's the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. I have nothing to say about the photographer, but the lack of attention to the minutiae in the "Official" Portraits is bad form; and Charlies hat is wonky. The Late Queen Elizabeth II was a decent photographer and took part in producing her portraits over the years. These make me think there was a tad too much alcohol being dished out.

Dear Fro-guy, I need you to "Skittles" your review…you should take a bunch of random people, dress them up as closely as you can to the royal family, and then show us all how it's really done…make some ahit-hot photos of your made up royal coronation after-party…that would be great content!

My second comment: I just got to the solo photo of King Charles and my immediate response was the same as Fro's: his feet are cut off. What the actual F. Even a scrub like me knows better than that.
In the first group photo, King Charles III is dead center. Everyone else has to fall around him, leaving 5 people to his right and 6 to his left. If he and Queen Carmilla were placed around the center, instead of Charles alone, there would be five people on either side of the royal couple and a symmetrical composition would be far easier to achieve. So, the composition is Charles' fault. That is, unless there is some royal protocol about official portraits in which the monarch must be in the center alone instead of sharing that position with someone. I can't find that anywhere upon a close look. So, Charles being an egoist threw the whole thing off.

I can sympathise with the weight of pressure and no time for a shoot but big expectations. So yeah they are boring and a lot more could be done but you kind of have to go with it sometimes
I wonder what camera Kate Middleton uses.
Hugo will be having sleepless nights, now you've critiqued his images. He'll be pulling out his credit card to buy Fropack to turn them from well lit and realistic tones, into garish oversaturated crap shots, especially with SKITTLES.

Skittles made King Charles a flamboyant Transgender. Not that I have anything against Transgenders, but I don't think it was the intension. bringing out more vibrance may make a photo better, but not in this case.

I believe that the epicenter of the photo is the King. Not the King AND Queen as a couple. So I think he is centered correctly, all alignment stems from the King.

They are formal photos and meant to mimic the paintings of old
Dude! The golden jeweled ball, (It's called an Orb – it's part of the Crowned Jewels), surmounted by a gem-encrusted cross, is designed as a symbol that the monarch's power is derived from God. It's been part of Brittan's coronations for centuries.

For the first photo the thing hanging right up top os centre though which catches a lot of attention.

On the 2nd photo, sitting on the throne, it is totally crooked, as if he was drunk and it had slipped.
the photos look boring because the royal family is boring
The first picture of the royal family makes it quite clear what position the individual people occupy within the royal family and how close they really are to the monarch.
King Charles is the center of attention because he is the reigning monarch.
Accordingly, Princess Anne and Prince William hold a very special position because they have been placed right next to King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Prince William's place is clear: as direct heir to the throne, he is the most important person in the clan, right after his father.
But why Anne?
The relationship between the two is considered very intimate – the origins of which lie in their childhood. There is a narrow age difference of two years between the two royals. Therefore, they grew up more or less at the same time.
Anne is said to have never been envious of her brother, on the contrary. Anne has always been considered down-to-earth, hardworking, loyal and reliable. All qualities that Charles values – especially now as king.
First, boring is a quality in this line of work, but it's balanced out with a clown hat and a rug cape. Second it's not a royal bowling ball, obviously, it's a holy grenade.
In general the light and color is not what I would've chosen in the final edit. It feels bland and unimaginative. with a little bit of color and adjustments like you did the king looks more vital, the room doesn't look so dismal.
Just a thought about the "working" royals image. There's five of them in the back row, and it centers the the new His Majestieness in the composition. Yeah, it doesn't match the framing of the background or stairs, but hey, you got the gig, get the best you can wid who ya got. Besides you're right about the time, he may have had 30 mins or way less.
JP is so correct. I'd be there with ordinary Nikon DSLR and told them each time "Don't look at the camera or me, and chin up a bit!"
