Whenever I go through family photos the ones I gravitate towards aren’t the posed shots or vacation scenes of places I hardly remember. It’s the photos that capture regular life. They take me back to that time. I’ve picked up and put down photography as a hobby multiple times. I like the idea of using it to document everyday life. It’s got me feeling motivated to start again

I share your sentiment regarding reality and social media. Shooting to grab moments of reality is showing the soft underbelly of one’s reality – the opposite of building a front for consumption by the algorithms.

Thank You Edward for this touching inspiration and motivation. Have been doing this with my family for years via formal group shots with a medium format Rolleiflex 6002 6×6 (now a GFX50R is applied). Though, now recently a Leica Q2 helps in capturing these mundane moments (before a X100, X100V). Greetings from Germany.

As someone who recently got into photography and also had my dad pass, this hit on a completely different level that makes me feel so much more inspired to document time with family and friends. Thank you for sharing.

so many times people ask why I’m taking photos of some moments and situations, like not grasping what is happening. It is for memories, even if it’s not a amazing phenomenon happening, it’s life going by and I want that a bit more… I totally relate to this video. loved it!

beautifully done Edward, love the mood of this video. Photography should be just that, it doesn't have to be anything epic, the best photos are always just the ones of the mundane that mean the most to us and no one else.

My grandfather passed away three weeks ago and this got me. At his funeral, they used a candid picture I took of him hugging my uncle. For the rest of my life I will be thankful that I captured that moment. Cheers.

I absolutely love this. So many of us take for granted the small things that make up our life. You did an excellent job of reminding us to observe and appreciate every moment. Thank you.

Beautiful. There has been times where I’d think I was capturing and posting too much about my family and that it might bore ppl. But in the end those are the posts I look back on the most.

Love this, all of it. During lockdown, I went through every single one of my family film photos (from even before I was born) and scanned them to preserve them. Photos of loved ones always hold the biggest weight.

Excellent content and message. All 100% accurate. One day, all we’ll have is the memories. Life is not about the stuff we own, but the experiences we have. Pick up your camera and document those experiences. They will mean more to you as time goes by.
