What happens when the sun goes down in that venue?
That's what I lack is the skill of Omar to make changes on the fly with lighting, I'm not an event photographer, but still would like to be able to make these decisions as he showed in the video with the confidence that I can still get the shot…very good video this week.
I’ve done a couple paid events, and it is truly difficult to do, especially if you don’t have early access to pre-plan your shoots, OR, the location and venue setup is just plain terrible.
I hate flash so much, which is why I don't call myself an event photographer anymore – well, not full-time, anyway. You have a great mindset though and yes, you have to be nimble. Thanks for sharing this. It's inspiring me to pick up more gigs and dust off my lights.
I’m wondering when bouncing a strobe straight up became a thing. Back in my freelance days, we bounced our Vivatar 283’s or Sunpaks at 75° with a bounce cards. Still with goofy isn’t much help.

Super cool analytical look at a practical situation. You've always be more about practical than shooting brick walls though. Love that! Shooting corporate events here in Sydney, Australia with 30 years of experience overall – agree with all recommendations except Color checker on the job. My computer display is color corrected so can judge from that. Keep in mind that clients displays / cell phones are what they will be seeing. Well done Omar!
