I so much do not understand all this. You mention how it will be possible to "create" art with just a few prompts, yet you have created nothing, a machine has done that. Anyone who can speak or type will be able to do that. You and others keep calling this a "tool," but it is not a tool, it is the entire process. You don't speak a few words to your hammer and it builds you a house, ready to move into. You will have a "vision" of the Grand Canyon at sunset and you won't have to be there, you won't have to experience it, just imagine it and it is there in front of you. Does that tree, that rock, exist in reality? It doesn't matter; it existed in my "vision" and so now this is my artwork because I thought it. I don't need to be at the Grand Canyon and record that experience, because my vision is so much grander anyway…
I have heard this compared to all the other various technological changes of the past, like the invention of the camera. After the camera was invented, someone still had to find a subject, compose it, light it, and early on, process the film and the print. The invention of AI says "Think of anything, we'll make it for you. You don't have learn anything, you don't have to know anything, or put any kind of effort into it at all."
Is this growth? Is this the meaning of human life in the future? Will we all just shed our bodies and become pure thought, and the world simply an illusion that a machine has interpreted and constructed from some collective vision? Will it be compartmentalized so that we each exist in our own imagined reality? What about when the machines start reproducing and teaching themselves? Will this become a planet of machines like the Transformers?
In a very real way, I'm glad that I'm too old to be around to see how this all ends.

AI generated art will take over most illustrative media… I'm pretty sure that Ikea produce most of the visual without photography, as does the car industry nowadays… Photography will end up like people hand knitting jumpers, or potters throwing pots on a wheel..
As you say, this is very early days, and the professional photographer as we know it has passed…
Incidentally, the Apple iPhone uses the Lidar device and not cameras to recognise your face…. The same Lidar devise can be used with software to construct 3d images, that can be rendered out…. The camera market must be very worried.
