Just like the Watts family…sharing everything with the terrible result at the end.
Some parents need to get a life and PARENT instead of posting for likes! 🙄🙄
When people want attention… those people should not have children they are putting them in danger !
I never had social media account, I did open it but never used it. When Iam on vacation I have photos for myself not others. I never wont to show other how I live, i found that stupid and more or less show off, look at me… and I would have planty to show of my luxury lifesyle from nothing and longterm disease to making it. Live for yourself not others.
I have left comments on you tube about these parents making money or getting attention putting videos out to social media. All I got were ugly comments saying there's nothing wrong with it. When one of these kids go missing they are the ones who helped cause it. What kind of parents use their kids like this but to make money off them from you tube and who knows what else. When you work a 40 hours a week you don't have time to do what this so called mom did.
Media scare! Like the video games [NES] and Y2K. Big media is BS.
I wouldn’t want someone posting pictures of me every day, I don’t even want people to tag me, but these kids usually have no choice in the matter, and their parents treat them as property to be used as they like. You don’t OWN your kids, they are their own property. Try being a parent, not some annoying friend. You can be their friend when they are 25.
Why send death threats tho? Those people are even more weird than the moms over sharing stuff about their own children.
#DaughteryDozen She needs to be investigated she feeds her kids junk food all the time waste food, put medicine info on the internet Shut Them Down
#Dadchallengepodcast
The New Yorker had this insightful cartoon of a fetal sonogram (or something) on a hospital screen in a room with the would-be parents – with all social media Share icons on it…
I get wanting to show the world your kids and family and whatnot, but I don't like seeing content, especially an overload of content, of families, mostly mothers, sharing a lot of post with (of) their kids. I had to unfollow a lot of people because the pressure I'd feel and the same kind of posts. Like 1) I could care less about the pictures and 2) I feel bad, because how would you feel if your parents were to post pictures of you from that age all over social media? But I do not condone nor support people doxing or harassing people because of this. Don't leak where they live or where they work… it's no one's business. It's invasion of privacy and that can lead to mental and emotional trauma! How would you like that to happen to you?
Can you let your kids live their lives without you as a parent constantly shoving a phone in their face? Put the damn thing down for five minutes and remember WHY you’re a parent and BE. PRESENT. The internet is written and ink and, let’s be honest, isn’t important.
Stupid people don’t use the 3 brain cells they have. They just want attention and the cash flow.
People really really need to be talking about this more!! Kids are not protected online!
A parent’s job is to protect their children. Never post your kids , and by the way you are not influencers you are bad parents
I have said explicitly to all my family that I am happy for them to take pictures of my kids for there own personal collections but that nothing is ever to be posted or sent anywhere. Snapchat, Facebook, Insta, and definitely not tick-tock.
I had a massive rowe with my younger sister over it cause I found out she was sending snapchats of my daughter to her friends (who have never even met her – she’s three).
I was furious. I basically said, “she’s a person, and a child at that. She is not here for your entertainment, or to help you get likes or lol online. She is my daughter, not a product. Treat me, and her with some respect.”
It’s even more frustrating, because I don’t even have any social media (apart from a YouTube account), and so I’ve discovered on occasion that extended family have posted pics of her on their socials, and have to be told by people who are on social media. I can’t even keep track of it myself.
One of my aunties posted a nude video of my little girl playing under a hose a couple of years ago. I was absolutely furious. DON’T POST PHOTOS OF OTHER PEOPLES KIDS WITHOUT EXPLICIT CONSENT FROM THE PARENTS!
That’s horrible how people post pics of people in hospital….
Kind of like "pageant moms", but just daily life stuff.
I keep asking my daughters family on her fathers side to stop posting her pictures online but they’re offended and still do it. They at I’m overreacting 😒
This is just reckless behaviour on the parts of mothers. Not parents. Mums.
Well done, stupid, vapid, narcissistic mother. You eagerly exploited your children on the internet for attention. And now disgusting perverts are fapping and doing God knows what else to the images of your children. What an imbecile.
It's not simply a problem of oversharing, which is bad enough. It's also a problem of being incentivized to overshare. Family social media channels can make BIG MONEY and the channels thrive on content showing their children's every detail to the point that parents can't succeed without it. Children, even at very young ages, become like employees for their parent's social media business. Very private details of their lives get shared, particularly for young girls. First periods, first bra, etc. I've even seen some channels make excuses for keeping their children home from school in order to MAKE MORE CONTENT FOR THE CHANNEL! All of this is without the true consent of children, who are not old enough to understand what is happening and by the time they ARE old enough… it's too late.
Idiot 🇦🇺
Social Media IS the platform DESIGNED for "oversharing". 90% of pictures most eomen place on SM are considered "oversharing". Lets be honest here: SM was designed for females, which is why their faces are always in their devices, even when crossing the street, which is when you should be SUPER AWARE, not oblivious.
I just don’t get why you would want to share so much of your private life with complete strangers …
This is a sickening trend. I hope it spawns a lot of lawsuits.
Parents oversharing on social media is a genuinely dangerous, and widespread issue that needs to be addressed. Some parents are EXPLOITING their kids, in a lot of cases. For example the “van life” culture going around where parents force their children into basically coffinlike conditions while they take a bedroom sized space all while LIVING in the van/RV. The parent exploiting kid thing online is a huge unaddressed issue HEADLINED by these corporations, youtube, tiktok, instagram, facebook, just letting parents maliciously take advantage of their kids, and our lawmakers not choosing to take initiative until now. Or even just uneducated parents just posting. You don’t know what predator is looking at your kid and your kid CANT consent to being online, they dont freakin have the ability to consent due to their lack of experience and information. Don’t share your kids photos outside of private spaces. Don’t share your personal lives outside of safe spaces. It’s not okay, and it’s DANGEROUS.
Finally!
1. Find random things to scare people with.
2. Once they're scared, make laws to control them.
No suprise the tik tok mom is from California
When I was a kid parents were told not to put the names on their tags because it could affect their safety……… now parents put the face, name, age and schedule of their children for attention.
If I have kids no one knows because neither I or them have a online presence.
I feel bad for her kids. Not her, she like 99.9% of everyone else on social media is an attention whore. She didn’t know pedophiles exist? Really. No perverts on the internet. Her fake ignorance is sickening.
Lots of parents in Thailand like to post their children from the day one they were born, especially celebrity people. Some want to show their children but some really make money out of their children's pictures (like attract people to visit their channels etc )
Shallow Shallow
If you are only posting updates for family and friends, I don't see the issue. My family all lives far away and many have never met my son in real life. It is when people use their kids to get famous that things get icky. Why are you sharing personal stuff with strangers?
I noticed most of these people are psychos, narcissists seeking attention on social media.
Imagine also not blocking out school shirts, super duper easy for someone to get them and nothing seems to slow it down. I think it should be up to parents to protect their kids from danger not the government.
Shout out to Dougherty Dozen
There’s a saying. “Be careful with what you say before you say it”. The same thing applies to posting content or a comment on the internet.
Wow. A segment I actually agreed with and enjoyed. Good reporting.
Parents have been treating their kids like lifestyle accessories for decades, this is just a new iteration of it. That being said, I'm thrilled to see a real movement pushing back against sharenting.
Phone addiction and attention seeking.
This can also be said about channels like Ryan’s World. It’s almost like kids are the stars of their own shows but without child labor protections
Damn, this also applies to ex-girlfriends who overshare private text messages as well.
I rarely post about my kids online, but other family members seem to think it’s ok to post pictures of my kids without permission. I have to tell them every time to run it by us first. I want my kids to be in control of their own media presence on their own terms.
Attention, attention, attention. Stop needing people to validate your family.
It's only going to get worse. Look at little kids in public, a lot of them are using a phone starting at a very young age.
I'm ready to see social media be done away with entirely. Everyone sees the negative impact it's had on society and yet everyone continues turning a blind eye to it.
Republicans should be all over this…. they just wanna protect the children right? Here is a start…. oh wait…
I can't stomach the idea of parents putting their children out there. I've had the displeasure of stumbling upon a few children's profiles where it clearly says "monitored by parents" and still old ass men make nasty and inappropiate toward children. But parents still allow that because, hey, they donated to your Gofundme campaign and you're using your kids as a promo tool. Both parents and gross men should be sued for this.
