Dame Deborah James passed away at the age of 40 on Tuesday after a five-year battle with bowel cancer. Prince William and Kate Middleton wrote a deeply personal message following her death. ‘Deborah was an inspirational and unfalteringly brave woman whose legacy will live on’. He visited her at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London earlier this year. His mother, Princess Diana, previously supported the hospital and frequently made visits.

I鈥檓 glad she got to meet someone so important to her. So kind of him to go and be friends in her time of need.
I am sadden to hear the death of Deborah. years ago I notice a difference in a bowel movement, a mucus surround my pooh and black spotting in my pooh. I had a Flexible sigmoidoscopy where they found POLYOPs then had a Colonoscopy to remove them. I am lucky to say they where benign. Thank you Deborah. A simple Check of your Pooh. Will one Day possibly save your life. Simple effective actions.

I'm sorry but people die of this disease every day. Being a BBC celebrity doesn't make her any more special than any other, warranting the attention of HRH. my condolences to her family as well as the millions of other family members affected by it.

As an Australian I did not know about Deb James. I am stunned at How her face changed over 5 years due to the ravages of cancer and the treatment. Sounds like she worked as hard in campaigning as well.

My Dad died of it, but he was lucky enough to live until 2 months shy of his 80th birthday he was trying to make until then to share the birthday with his brother in law who had birthday鈥檚 a week apart and we always shared their celebration鈥檚 at his Sister鈥檚 place my Aunty as they had always been close growing up, my Uncle was gutted that my Dad couldn鈥檛 be at the wider family party. But Dame Deborah that鈥檚 so young to die, thoughts to her kid鈥檚 and husband, and all her loved one鈥檚.

Deborah turned a devastating medical diagnosis into an incredibly generous and highly spirited journey for the sole purpose of helping others. She will be well remembered and admired for her determination, as evidenced in many ways. My sincere and heart felt condolences to her children and husband.
